Rhapis Excelsa Dwarf Named Varieties

Rhapis excelsa 'Zuiko-Lutino'
Light green to medium green leaves with dark green stripes.

The tallest variety of the dwarf Rhapis, the high quality leaves are quite wide and large, with very little splitting, plus having a tendency to droop. It grows fast and produces many new pups.

Rhapis excelsa 'Tenmen'
Most likely a varition on the "Tenmanishiki" a highly prized and in great demand, striped Kannonchiku. Leaves are large and wide with white and yellow stripes on dark green background. A very beautiful plant.

Rhapis excelsa 'Towaden'
Leaves are extremely large and wide, with a graceful slope downwards. The leaf of the Towaden has little tendency to split, which is the plants outstanding feature. Grows very fast and produces many new shoots.

Rhapis excelsa 'Daruma'
The leaves of the Daruma are narrow but thick and having a smooth high gloss about them. A characteristic of this plant is the splitting of each frond into many narrow leaflets, like those of Rhapis humilis.

Rhapis excelsa 'Fukuju'
This plant has been around for awhile, leaves are medium sized, thin and drooping. The leaf tips curve gradually towards the center of the plant. Fast growing and readily produces many new pups. Variegated cultivars derived from Fukuju include Kotobuki, Hakuju and Choju.

Rhapis excelsa 'Kodaruma'
Kodaruma, simply put, "is a doll", having a slight twist to its small but thick drooping leaves, on short thick leaf stalks, gives this plant a look of her own. It is a small shrub like plant that produces many pups and keeps its shape longer than most Rhapis do. It is suggested that all Kodaruma are female plants.

Rhapis excelsa 'Green Variegated'
Another plant with a mysterious background. Some leaves are all green others striped with yellow and some with spots of yellow/green. A degree or two, more difficult to grow and requires more shade than most other Rhapis do. Also known to produce two heads from one stalk. This is truly one strange lady.

Rhapis excelsa 'Daikokuten'
Large and very wide, rounded leaves, gives this plant an appearance of size and strengh. A very prolific grower.

Rhapis excelsa 'Koban' (Gold Coin)
Leaves have a rounded appearance, and their shape is short, wide and drooping. The distance between leafstalks on the trunk is short. A very prolific grower.
