The palmetum on Ashburn street is now nearly fifteen years
in progress and is home to nearly 100 palms planted permanently
in the ground, fifty or so tropical palms which are cultivated in pots in the ground for removal to the greenhouse for winter, and another 50 or so container palms that spend year round in the greenhouse. The current palm collection consists of 140 or so species representing 57 genera. |
