Rhapis excelsa 'taiheiden' Lady Palm from scubamom's private collection.
Rhapis excelsa 'taiheiden', The king of kannonchiku: This is perhaps the most sought after of the all-green Rhapis. The quality of the leaf is most excellent, they are very large, wide and thick, the petiole is short and thick. The leaves and trunks are the largest of all the Rhapis, thus coined "King". Although slow growing they are easy to grow and produce many new pups. Discovered as a sport among other Rhapis growing in Taiwan and was registered in 1949. This image is of a 30 year old palm growing in a 20 gallon container.
Pups of the 'Taiheiden' are
available "Only serious collectors should inquire as to price and size."
