Roystonea elata (Florida Royal Palm) showing trunk that has been "pot-planted". I got this palm from Turners in Corpus, in the summer of '98, it was small and only a few feet tall, it looked like a stick in a bucket. I planted it on the south side of our house that same summer (pot and all) because the wind kept blowing it over. My intentions were to dig it up later and replant it, after removing it from the pot, and to another spot. Well about a year later there it was growing to beat the band, so I just left it where it was, pot and all. Image taken January 10, 2000
