 Phoenix loureirii, "Dwarf Date Palm" This palm is often called and mistaken for the Pygmy Date Palm (P. roebelenii) also been known as P. humilis and P. hanceana. Notice the emerging spathe (middle top) as it is about to flower, it also suckers and this palm is a male as it flowered for the first time last year. Image taken March 24, 2001
