Syagrus romanzoffiana (Queen Palm) This is a very unusual palm, in the fact that the petioles are purple/green and the leaf bases, at least the older ones turn almost black. Also noted is a heavy fuzzy talcum that forms around the fibrous newly formed leaf bases. Some say this is a "Silver" form of S. romanzoffiana while other's say it is the "Black Queen". What ever it is it is truly a beautiful palm!
